“Knockdown” (Veldhoven, Holland) does exist for over 5 years. Joost (bass) and Niels (vocals) are the only remaining members of the original line-up. With the old line-up a few recordings were made and they played a cople of shows in the south of Holland. After a while things went downhill and “Knockdown” decided to call it a day.
Niels and Joost didn’t want to quit the band and they attrackted Hugo on guitar, who left “Discipline” a few years before, and Erik on drums. As a 4-piece band they worked on material for “Knockdown’s” first full-lenght album.

November 2002 “Knockdown” went into the studio and recorded “The Game Is Ours” album. The result is a high-quality street-rock ‘n’ roll record with great rockin’ solo’s and a raw voicethat is comparable to the best songs of the old “Bruisers” (All Bar’s band before Dropkick, duh!).

The lyrics on “The Game Is Ours” album are very streetwise and down to earth. Niels sings about football, hooliganism, knockdowns, unfaithfull women, drinking and sex. A cople of songs are a bit more serious like So Long (featuring Kris Hardsell), Forget The Past and Crazy World. On top of it “The Game Is Ours” comes with really beautifull cover artwork drawn by tattoo-artist “Darko”.

Today “Knockdown” is busy playing and planning shows to promote their album. One track of the album appears in a different version on the Brabantia Nostra compilation (April 2003 on rebellion records holland) together with a cover of Social Distortion (Sick Boy).

The latest news on Knockdown is that they found a second guitarist in Robbert (ex-Mighty Dogs RIP). He played along at a couple of shows and it all worked out very well. Go check em out!!!
