У кого какой любимый альбом этой группы? Несколько раз пытался их слушать: уважение вызывают, видно что там и техника и идеи, но за душу почему-то не берёт. Может быть не то слушал

У кого какой любимый альбом этой группы?

Первый раз я их услышал в 2000-ом году, когда ко мне в руки попал их компакт с альбомом 90-го года "Smoke 'em If You Got 'em", оказавшийся в дискографии тоже первым. И зацепили. Гонял его по кругу очень большой период в жизни. Особенно такие вещицы, как Bullet, Marijuana. Со временем, естественно, услышал и всё остальное, и даже кое-что приобретал (и приобретаю), но тот самый первый альбом так и остался самым любимым и на мой взгляд, лучшим.

Original Release Date: November 30, 2018. Label: Victory Records. Total Length: 36:14. The good Reverend has been ploughing the furrow marked “furious rockabilly based rock ‘n’ roll” for decades now, and while this new offering is no game changer, it does carry the listener through its generous track listing on a glorious wave of exuberant, tightly constructed, wonderfully performed songs. Opening with the title track ‘Whole New Life’ the template is clear. This album is going to be a blast and despite the stylistic conventions being applied, each track is clearly defined and independent. ‘Hate to Cry’ drops the pace but not the intensity; similarly, ‘Don’t Let Go of Me,’ where the reverb is turned up on guitar and vocals to create a moody, desperate love song. This is not as dark and twisted as the Cramps but it has a similar intensity of attack towards the musical form. The Reverend and his disciples (now featuring keyboards) are not taking any prisoners! ‘Ride before the Fall’ reeks of the Shadows with keys, and as an instrumental is compelling, particularly as the whoops and hollers of the band punctuate the track. There is real joy here. The album finishes with a breakneck version of ‘Viva Las Vegas’ that tips its hat at all the influences that fill this album, as well as clearly marking out the Reverend’s independent style. Fun-Guy Records and Reverend Horton Heat are pleased to announce the release of the album “Roots of the Rev.” (Volume One) by Reverend Horton Heat. “Roots of the Rev. (Volume One)” is an album of cover songs that have a connection to the band. Many of the songs are by artists who we knew personally – like Willie Nelson and Ronnie Dawson. Some songs are just a part of the history of Reverend Horton Heat. Each song’s relationship to the band is explained in detail in the liner notes. The decidedly lo-fi album was recorded with a very live feel and mixed in monophonic – a few overdubs, but mainly us live in the room together. The use of ancient microphones and mixers, the use of old tape (yes, some digital too – hard to completely avoid these days), tape delay and the use of musicians who understand the rockabilly and early rock and roll styles. The bulk of the album was recorded by Jim Heath at Fun-Guy Studios in Dallas. Four songs were recorded at Dale Watson’s Wat-Sun studio in Memphis. On all of the songs, Jim Heath and Jimbo Wallace were in the same room playing live together. Fun. This was truly a labor of love and it took a while to get together but we think that our fans will find it a fun and rollicking musical adventure. A little look into the history of Reverend Horton Heat and a time gone-by. Or now, present times? Lo-fi but high energy!
